Sherri Coale’s Lady Sooner team is coming back fresh from a Final Four appearance last year. There’s one thing for certain this year though, and just like in any of the previous years; Sheri Coale’s team is always a force in the Big 12 and will most likely compete for a conference championship. Sherri Coale never seems to disappoint loyal sooner followers as she embarks upon her 14th season as the head coach of the Lady Sooner basketball team.

This year’s team will be led by three seniors:  Danielle Robinson, Carlee  Roethlisberger, and Lauren Willis. As it was written in a previous article, the Lady Sooner basketball team is no longer obscure and is no longer overshadowed by the legendary Sooner football powerhouse.

Let’s meet the Lady Sooner team for the 2010-2011 season.  Coach Coale is stacked nicely at the guard position with seniors Danielle Robinson and Lauren Willis leading a talented group.  Junior Jasmine Hartman, sophomores Whitney Hand and Joanne McFarland, compliment a talented group of freshmen featuring: Aaryn Ellenberg, Alexann Yancy, and Morgan Hock.

The Lady Sooner front court will be comprised of Senior Carlee Roethlisberger, and their tallest player (6′-4″) Junior center Jelena Cerina, along with sophomores Lyndsey Cloman and Joanna McFarland.  Talented freshmen Jaqueline Jeffcoat and Nicole Griffin complete a versatile and very talented roster.

There’s no doubt about it that this year’s team will be as exciting to watch as all of Sherri Coale’s teams have been in the past.  Guard Whitney Hand will be out for approximately 5 months following microfracture surgery to repair cartilage damage in her right knee but Coale expects her to be at full-strength when she returns.
